MADRID (AP) — Osasuna pulled off yet another Copa del Rey upset by eliminating Athletic Bilbao in extra time Tuesday to reach the final for the first time in nearly two decades. Late substitute Pablo Ibáñez scored with a volley from the edge of the area on a breakaway in the 116th minute to secure a 2-1 aggregate win that sent the Pamplona club to the final for the first time since 2005.“I don’t have any words to describe the emotions right now,” said Ibáñez, who was 6 years old when the club last made it to the final. “We suffered like dogs, and to score that goal in the last minute is something that you can’t explain. It’s the best goal of my career and I doubt that I’ll be able to do anything better than that.”Athletic had forced extra time at San Mamés Stadium after winning 1-0 in regulation with a goal by Iñaki Williams in the 33rd. Osasuna had won the first leg 1-0 at home. Osasuna will play the final against either Barcelona or Real Madrid, who meet in the other semifinal at ...

Trump, stone-faced, pleads not guilty in court appearance

Published Tue, 04 Mar 2025 11:36:16 GMT

NEW YORK (AP) — Donald Trump turned his head toward photographers as he sat, stone-faced with shoulders rounded, at the defense table in a downtown Manhattan courtroom. “Not guilty,” he said in a firm voice during a historic appearance before a judge Tuesday. Trump became the first U.S. president ever to be charged with a crime. Prosecutors state in a 34-count felony indictment that Trump conspired to illegally influence the 2016 presidential election through hush money payments to two women, including a porn performer, who said they had sexual encounters with him. In addition, charging documents say a payoff went to a doorman who claimed to have a story about an out-of-wedlock child allegedly fathered by Trump. Earlier, Trump struck a defiant pose, raising a clenched fist as he exited Trump Tower for the short ride from midtown to lower Manhattan. He wore a dark blue suit, white shirt and red tie. Wolf reintroduction could be delayed by proposed law

Published Tue, 04 Mar 2025 11:36:16 GMT

DENVER (KDVR) — A bipartisan group of lawmakers is looking to put limits on wolf reintroduction in Colorado. Wildlife advocates say it could delay the process by six years or more.State legislators introduced the bill last week. It would prohibit wolf reintroduction in Colorado until two conditions are met under federal law: certain wolf management rules are finalized and an environmental impact study is complete. Which Colorado cities have the longest and shortest summers? Gray wolves are listed under the federal Endangered Species Act, but Colorado is in charge of reintroduction in the state. Because of this, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is in the process of designating Colorado's wolves as a "nonessential experimental population," which the bill's authors say would give the state "greater flexibility to manage the wolves" once reintroduced. That rule-making process is expected to be complete by the end of the year.
