(NEWS10) – Despite having an extraditable warrant from February, Carlos Corrales-Ramirez never made it back to Maryland after being detained in New York in March. One legal expert sheds some light on why that extradition never happened. The 20-year-old suspect was arrested and arraigned in Troy in connection to a stabbing homicide on Saturday. New York lawmakers and Rensselaer County officials said that never should have happened with his criminal history and attributed his release to a “massive breakdown in communication”.Rensselaer County Executive Steve McLaughlin held a press conference on Wednesday and wanted one question answered.“Why was this criminal not extradited out of the state of New York back to Maryland? 2 people rescued from cave along Palos Verdes Peninsula Two people had to be rescued Thursday afternoon after getting trapped inside a cave along the Palos Verdes Peninsula.Authorities responded to the Terranea Cave, next to Terranea Resort, around 1 p.m. where two adults had entered the cave and found themselves trapped by the rising tide, officials said.It was not immediately known how the couple entered the cave, or how long they had been trapped.Fire crews and Los Angeles County lifeguards responded, along with Cabrillo Baywatch.Sky5 footage shows a woman being rescued from a cave along the Palos Verdes Peninsula on Sept. 7, 2023. The crash happened along in the Angeles Forest in the hills above Azusa near Morris Reservoir.The incident began when Azusa police were called for a welfare check at an undisclosed location. At some point, that welfare check evolved into a short pursuit. Police said the driver of the involved vehicle went off a cliff near Highway 39 and Glendora Mountain Road.
