DENVER (KDVR) — Outgoing board members for Denver Public Schools held their final meeting Thursday night, and there was some serious tension.It was a chance to put a bookend on their time governing the largest school district in Colorado, but it was not without controversy. DENVER (KDVR) — Wheat Ridge Police officers made an arrest after tracking down a stolen U-Haul.On Wednesday, a Wheat Ridge officer spotted a U-Haul that seemed out of place. Turns out it had been reported stolen that same morning. The truck was tracked into Denver and an arrest was made on the spot. The task force is a full-time, multi-jurisdictional task force focused on auto theft. Boston College let a winnable game against a bad team slip away on Thursday night in Pittsburgh.The Pitt Panthers snapped a five-game losing streak with a 24-16 victory over BC at Acrisure Stadium. SAN DIEGO — The San Diego Padres confirmed that one of Peter Seidler's long-time business partners will be taking over as the team's interim point person for Major League Baseball after the chairman's passing earlier this week.Eric Kutsenda, a co-founder and managing partner at Seidler's private equity firm, was appointed as the team's interim control person, as required by Major League Baseball.However, it is unclear how long he will serve in that capacity. An Islamic community centre in Vaughan was evacuated due to what police called a potential threat.York Regional Police said they responded to the community centre near Bathurst Street and Ner Israel Drive on Thursday night.The building was evacuated, and officers conducted a search of the area. LUCKNOW, India (AP) — Rescuers drilled deeper into the rubble of a collapsed road tunnel in northern India on Friday to fix wide pipes for 40 workers trapped underground for a sixth day to crawl to their freedom.Drilling with a new machine started on Thursday and has covered a stretch of 24 meters (78 feet) so far, Devendra Patwal, a disaster management official, said. Two people were taken to the hospital following a house fire in Mississauga on Thursday.First responders were called to the residence located in the Collett Road and Morning Star Drive area at around 10:15 p.m.Police said two occupants of the home were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.It’s unclear what caused the fire.There are road closures in place from Collett Road and Morning Star Drive, including eastbound on Airport Road.Latest news
